OUR MISSION
Over the years, our Mission has developed with the challenges that we have been facing and has become the following:
The heart of the project is formed by programmes put in place for the Community’s children and youth. This comprises the promotion of Early Childhood Development to enhance school-readiness and learning capacities of the smallest children. Moreover, Little Rose Centre gives shelter to orphaned and vulnerable children to protect them and to give them a ‘home’. Children and adolescents from the Community are empowered to build up their self-esteem and to discover their personal potential by our After Care and by leisure time activities. The idea of creating future role models is deeply rooted in our minds.
In addition and in line with our Vision, we strive to create small job opportunities, do educational workshops for adults and help to feed the needy to ease their hardship, especially in case of HIV/Aids, illness and severe poverty. At the same time, community members engage in activities promoted by Little Rose Centre in order to help out at the Centre or improve the well-being of the community as a whole, thus creating a stronger sense of belonging and promoting the idea of receiving and giving.
OUR VISION
The overall vision of our project goes in two directions and is directly linked to the needs of the Kliptown Community.
Above all, we believe that our children are our future. We aim to promote their possibilities and help to give them a perspective and an opportunity in life. To this end, Little Rose Centre proposes various educational programmes for children and youngsters of all ages and strives to create role models for our Community. We want to make our children shine and reach for new possibilities.
Secondly, we intend to make our Community safe by helping to reduce severe poverty, unemployment and crime. Reaching out to the poorest and most vulnerable to ease their burden is how we see our contribution in this continuous fight. Asking at the same time for their help whenever needed for the Kliptown Community, means putting in practice the principle of ‘I receive – so I give back to my Community’. This principle helps to create mutual trust, raises awareness for one another within our Community and gives both, relief and meaning to those who struggle most.
